WSO Finds Harmony with New Executive Director Joyce Russell

The Warren Symphony Orchestra (WSO) Board of Directors has appointed lifelong Warren resident and non-profit executive Joyce A. Russell as its new executive director.

“During our talent search, we were thrilled to discover a Warren resident with the nonprofit and fundraising experience we were looking for in preparation for the Warren Symphony Orchestra's 50th anniversary 2023-24 season,” says Lori Stone, WSS Board of Directors President. “Joyce is devoted to our community, has an appreciation for the cultural enrichment provided by the WSO, is a champion for music education, and has a superb reputation for strengthening nonprofits while leading with a servant’s heart.”

Joyce has served in several non-profit leadership positions in Metro Detroit over the past two decades, most recently as The Grosse Pointe War Memorial’s Senior Institutional Advancement Director. Previously, she served at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital, Habitat for Humanity Oakland County, and Lighthouse of Oakland County. Prior to her non-profit career, Russell taught marketing for 12 years at area colleges and universities.

Joyce invites the community to join the Warren Symphony Orchestra for the last performance of the 49th Concert Series on Sunday, April 23rd, 2023 at 3pm with Out Of This World selections! Star Trek: Into Darkness and Star Wars are amongst the featured selections. Audience members are invited to participate with intergalactic cosplay by dressing up in their best space inspired attire. Tickets are available online at https://www.warrensymphonyorchestra.com/.

The Warren Symphony Orchestra will be celebrating its 50th season in 2023-24. The Symphony serves to advance an orchestra of professional quality for cultural enrichment, entertainment, and youth education in the community, reaching as many as 2,000 elementary students annually.
